Office Interiors specialist Kinetic Workplace Design have now completed their relocation from London to rural Monmouthshire to concentrate on establishing themselves in Wales and the South West and enjoy a better quality of life.
Vince Taylor, managing director was born in Pontypool, and aged 18, he left for University in London and once graduated, he then worked in Central London for the best part of 25 years working in the office design and interiors industry with design companies and manufacturers, working in design then sales and project management.
Working his way through the ranks of some of the more established companies in the sector, Vince became a Director and business owner in 1996 in Richmond (SW London) and helped develop it from a £2m into a £12m turnover company.
In 2005, Vince and his family decided to leave the South East to set up Kinetic Workplace Design. Initially working from home, Vince’s previous clients and main suppliers were quickly back in touch and the company started to win contracts with national companies and organisations based in the South East as well as international giants including Australian airline Qantas Airways.
Relationships are a key factor in a successful business. Vince explains,
“I’ve made a lot of contacts during my career and I make it my business to keep in touch with them. When opportunities arise to work with these contacts we genuinely go the extra mile to deliver creative, intelligent design solutions but I also insist that we meet with deadlines and budget requirements. We really enjoy working with new clients and build strong relationships during each project that continue long after the last task chair is put into place.”
Explaining his reasons to setup his company back to Wales, Vince said,
“The South East and London have been good for me. I have learned a great deal from many key people over the years and appreciated all their advice. Professionally I have exceeded my expectations and I really enjoyed my time there. I wanted to capitalise on all my experience of contributing to a successful company by starting my own company with fresh ideas in a new environment. From a personal perspective, Vince explains “My wife and I are both from the Pontypool area and we wanted to come back here and live in the Usk Valley to raise our family and also support my favourite pastime, Welsh Rugby.”
“The new office is in a converted barn on the Llancayo Business Park just outside Usk and from my desk I have a fantastic view of the Usk valley and Monmouthshire countryside. It’s a beautiful location with a real ‘feel good factor’ that inspires me and my team.”
I still travel to London at least once a week as well as other parts of the country to meet clients, suppliers and check progress on projects but I am keen to develop the customer base closer to home.”
“We’ve already started to win a couple of projects here but now the office is fully functioning we can start booking appointments and introducing our services to the local business community. Its exciting to be back and I’m sure the market place will benefit from some stiff competition and a fresh approach.”
